Technologies

21st Century teaching and learning tools may be integrated into programs of study to engage the 21st Century learner. The Centre continues to research, identify and develop innovative technologies and ways of enhancing learning through the application of these more dynamic and emerging ICTs to provide tools to deliver cross-curricular program resources. Our strategy contains provision for a range of options for teacher participation that are focused on the local school context linked to student learning needs, including:

  • an expanded range of virtual field trips in 2010 in a wider range of disciplines through the facilities afforded schools in the Connected Classroom Program

  • continued exploration of mobile technologies and their capacity to streamline efforts to manage information in the field, taking student learning out of the traditional classroom and to the outdoors and virtual, online environments

  • development of game design as a means of enhancing literacy, numeracy and other key learning areas through a cross-curricula middle years project requiring multiple perspectives for collaborative problem-solving, development of narrative and construction of 3D animated games

  • taking 3D virtual environments to new levels with students designing, building and collaborating within their own 3D worlds while developing learning challenges to share with peers

  • exploring the power of alternative software to support problem solving with tasks like robotics, game design and multi-user virtual environments to motivate learning.

In this section you will find some of the technologies used at Macquarie ICT Innovations Centre.
